You Cannot Blame God by Richard Roberts

RR:  Young person, the Spirit of God which is rising up in you is stronger than any attachment to drugs or alcohol or anything that’s unlike God.  You have the conviction to say no.  (Yes, you do.)  Do it.  Choose to refuse it.  You can live without it.  You can live healthier.  You can avoid all that abuse in your life, and your life can count for something.  For you are special to God.  You who have a dream of going into athletics, especially professional athletics, let the light of Jesus Christ shine through your life.  If you want to make a mark on history, if you want to make a mark on the sport that you believe God has give you ability in, then do what Dave has done, make a commitment of your life to Jesus Christ.  Now Dave did not receive Christ until he was already in professional athletics.  But you can receive Jesus right now if you’ll let me pray with you. Everybody join with me in this prayer and as you watch, and this is for you parents too, I want to lead you to Christ.  And if you’ll let me pray I believe my prayers can help you.  Will you pray this prayer out loud after me and everybody here, will you pray?  O Lord, be merciful to me a sinner.  I’m a sincere, I’m a sinner, Lord, and I’m sincerely sorry.  I repent of my sins.  I confess them to You.  I know I’ve been wrong and I ask You to forgive me. And in the name of God, I receive His only Son Jesus as my Lord and Savior.  I confess His name with my lips.  I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead.  And I take Him as Savior.  My sins are now forgiven.  I receive Christ.  My life is being changed.  If you meant what you said, Jesus is entering your heart right now and you’ll never be the same again. I have a book–here’s a copy of it–called NOW YOU HAVE ACCEPTED CHRIST, WHAT NEXT?  If you just prayed that prayer with me, let me send you this book, NOW YOU HAVE ACCEPTED CHRIST, WHAT NEXT?  This little book will help you know what to do now that you’ve received Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior.  I’ll talk to you about going back to church.  “Forsake not the assembling of yourselves together,” that’s what the Bible says.  I’ll talk to you about praying, how to pray, how to talk to God, how to study and meditate on God’s Word, what the Bible can do in your life. The Bible says, “The Word of God is alive and full of power.” And when you get that Word in you, you become alive and full of power.  And you who are desiring to be athletes, as you get God’s Word in you, I believe that your athletic ability is going to increase in a way like you’ve never dreamed of before.  And the world will know about it.  I praise God for that.  I pray for your healing today.  (Applause)  I pray for you to be healed, from the crown of your head to the soles of your feet.  In the mighty name of Jesus, amen and amen.  Praise the Lord.  (Singing “Jesus Heals Them All”)  (Applause)  Praise the Lord.  Dave, thank you for taking time out of your schedule.  I know a new season is coming up soon.  I want to pray–in fact, I’d just like to pray for you right now. Everybody stretch your hands out toward Dave.  Dave, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, we touch you with our hands and with our faith.  We stretch out hands out toward you and we pray for your witness to increase, even far beyond your own dreams.  For the ministry, for I believe God has placed you in a ministry.  He’s given you great athleticability and as you play football for Seattle this season in the NFL, I pray for God to unusually anoint you, that through your ability in athletics you will continue to win people to Jesus Christ.  I pray it, I believe it, and I expect it to come to pass in your life.  God bless your dear wife Rhonda.  Rhonda, if you’re watching this program, God bless you.  God continue to anoint you and be a support to Dave, in Jesus’ name.  Let everybody say amen. I think we ought to give the Lord a great handclap.  (Applause)  Dave, thank you for being our guest today. Praise God for it.  I’ll be looking for you again on TV again this season.
