RR:  Now someone would say, but now it helps me to be a better athlete if I have a little use of that.

DB:  O.K., but what I would say to them is an example.  You know, right now the last few months we’ve heard of how these cases of how Tylenol, these capsules have been laced with cyanide and people have actually died right now from it.  What you’re saying when you say that is, you’re calling what is evil good because God says, woe is to him who calls evil good–that’s Isaiah 5–and good evil.  And you’re not taking a drug that’s going to kill you right now, but slowly and surely it will turn you away from the Lord and it will kill you.  If you want life, life is only found in Jesus Christ.  But Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father but by me.”  (Applause)

RR:  Have you had any personal experience dealing with other NFL players that have been on drugs?  I’m not talking about names or anything, I’m just saying, have you had any experience where you’ve been able to be a help to someone like that or is there any example that comes to your mind?  I want to drive this point home because there is a tremendous scare in America, especially among parents.  And it’s coming, it seems to be coming in droves to young people who have a desire to get into professional athletics.

DB:  Well, I definitely had an effect because I’ve been in prayer in it in regard to that.  And there’s some that I’ve talked with personally in regard to that.  But that’s about all I can say right

RR:  I understand.  I can appreciate that.  In a few moments we’re going to pray and I particularly want you especially as a parent, if there’s a member of your family, a son or a daughter, who is athletically inclined and maybe they’re out somewhere in another room or maybe they’re out in the street or out in the yard or somewhere around, go get them.  Because in a few minutes I’m going to ask Dave as a professional athlete to lead them in prayer.  In a few minutes we’ll be doing that, so just take a moment now and find that young person and get them in front of the television set.  In a few minutes I’m going to ask Dave if he’ll pray and Lindsay and I will join, join in.  But I think this is a wonderful opportunity for a young man who has made something of his life through professional athletics, and of course more than that, he’s making something of his life through his Savior Jesus Christ.  The ORU Singers are going to bless us with a song while you’re getting that young person ready for this prayer. They’re going to sing a wonderful song titled, “He’ll Do It Again.” Give them a good handclap as they sing “He’ll Do It Again.”
