LR: You know, it’s just like this gentleman who knew Christ, he knew all about Him, but he decided–he said, “I made a decision to put God in the background.” We can make a decision that we know all about God but we don’t want anything to do with Him. But God is so real and He wants to help us and He wants us to serve Him and have abundant life. But if we make the decision to put God in the background, then there’s nothing God can do. We tie God’s hands. And right now, in the name of Jesus, let’s untie God’s hands so God can work a miracle for us. Father, right now, in the name of Jesus, I pray for anyone who is backslidden or who has never known Jesus Christ as their Savior before, in the name of Jesus, I ask you right now repeat this prayer after me–Father God, I pray and repent of my sins. I ask You to forgive me. I know I’m a sinner and I’m sorry. And I repent right now. I take Jesus Christ as my Lord and my personal Savior. I ask You to help me never to do the sins again. And, Father, work a miracle for my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
RR: Friend, if you meant that prayer away down in your heart, Jesus is entering your life right now. Just before I pray a healing prayer, I have a little book here called HOW TO LIVE YOUR NEW LIFE. If you meant that prayer, Jesus has entered your heart and you have a brand-new life. And I’d like to send you this book, HOW TO LIVE YOUR NEW LIFE. If you’ll just write me, Richard Roberts, Tulsa, Oklahoma, I’ll put it into the mail. It’s free, there’s no obligation, and I know it will be a blessing to you. Now, in the name of Jesus, I stretch out my hands to pray the prayer of faith for you. I come against the sickness and the disease in your body and I pray for you to be delivered from the oppression and depression of the devil. I command that thing that’s unlike God to come out of your life, in the mighty name of Jesus. And I pray for you to be healed, delivered, and set free. Through Jesus’ mighty name. Now sit up tall. Stand up tall. Expect a miracle to happen in your life. And I believe it’s beginning now, in the name of Jesus. Praise God. ORU Singers, are you about ready to sing? They’re going to sing a beautiful song called “We Are Persuaded.” We are persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor any power, nor anything above or below can separate me–notice that word–can separate me from the love of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. Singers, are you about ready? Let’s give them a good handclap as they sing from the Bible, “We Are Persuaded.” (Applause)

LR: God is so good, if we just allow Him to be good. This person talks about knowing God but slipping away. He said–this is a gentleman in Chicago and he said, “God is a healing God and I’m proof of that. I was in a car accident last summer and I ruptured the discs in my back. I know it sounds like a small problem, but I’ve never felt so much pain in all of my life. I had a terrible limp, and sleep was almost impossible. I was a Christian, but I decided to put God in the background.” But he said he decided that. How about that. “But when the pain became unbearable, I decided the only thing I could cry out to was God and I needed God’s help. The following morning I was changing channels and I came across your program. You said that God was there for us and He hears our cry for help. You began to pray for people’s healing and I felt an electric shock touch my back. God healed me that morning.” That’s right. “And I rededicated my life to Him. Now I praise God and I’m serving God with all of my life. And I’m so glad that God loves me in spite of all my faults.”
RR: Lindsay, let’s just have prayer. Let’s just have prayer right now. (Amen) Someone watching this program who does not know Jesus as their Savior–yeah, yeah–and the Lord’s healing somebody in their right leg right now. Knee, the kneecap that you’ve injured is being healed right now, being healed right now. You know, Lindsay, the other day my dad and Jim Winslow, who is the head of the City of Faith, and I were talking and praying together. And we joined hands to pray. And as Dr. Winslow was praying, the Lord gave me a word of knowledge. And I instantaneously by the Spirit of God knew that Jim had had a problem in his wrist. Now I didn’t know anything about it, but the Lord showed me. And while we were praying, God completely healed his wrist. He had had some trouble with his wrist, and God healed it all. And I know that there’s no distance in prayer. What God did for Jim Winslow just the other day, He can do in your life as we pray. Lindsay, first of all, I want to pray for those who don’t know Christ. I’m going to ask you to lead the prayer and then I’ll pray.

RR: Excuse me a minute. (Kiss)
LR: Thank you. Oh, you’re so sweet. (Applause) You’re so sweet. He was so sweet. He brought me popsickles this morningfor breakfast.
RR: She had a popsickle for breakfast. These pregnant women will eat anything and everything. This is a letter–
LR: Say you’re sorry
RR: You’re sorry. Now I’m leaving tomorrow, Lindsay, so have mercy on me. By the way, be sure and be watching the program tomorrow. We’re going to have a, we’re going to have–Terry and Jackie Mize, I believe, are going to be guests tomorrow. Is that right? Terry and Jackie Mize. And tomorrow we’ll tell that story again about her tape on supernatural childbirth. But the reason I mentioned that is because tomorrow Billy Joe and Sharon, who are not with us today but who will be with us tomorrow, Billy Joe and Sharon and Terry and Jackie Mize, ministers of the gospel who just recently returned from India, will be our guests. And tomorrow they’re going to anoint me with oil for my crusade in Australia. Tomorrow is my final day as I’m preparing now to leave. And then Lindsay and Billy Joe and Sharon will be hosting the program until I return. And Lindsay’s not going with me to Australia. She’s staying at home and taking care of little Jordan Lindsay. And by the time–I expect her to be two weeks bigger, you know, by the time.
LR: That will be easy for me.
RR: By the time we get back.
LR: I kind of grow pretty fast.
RR: But here’s a letter from Fort Benning, Georgia. That’s a military town. “Dear Richard, I’ve been healed and God gets all the praise. I broke my collarbone in a boating accident and I couldn’t move for many weeks. After a year the bone still caused me quite a bit of pain. I spent hundreds of dollars on specialists, but the relief I got was only temporary. I didn’t know what to do next because the pain began to spread into my lower back. I was miserable and I knew the devil was getting his kicks by causing me all this pain and discomfort. Then a friend told me about your TV program and God worked a miracle for me. You were reading testimonies one morning and you stopped when the Lord gave you a word of knowledge that someone suffering from their neck down was being healed. By the close of that program, I was moving and doing things I had not been able to do for the entire past year. I am now healed. Praise God for His grace and His healing power.” (Applause) Isn’t that a wonderful testimony?

RR: Praise God for health checks, Lindsay.
LR: …crackers.
RR: Are you eating a cracker?
LR: I was. cracker, but she likes Saltines. (Yes) Somehow pregnant women like Saltines, is that right? Any of you women been pregnant–
LR: This one had peanut butter on it.
RR: –and you eat Saltines crackers, nod your head. Any of you men ever been pregnant, raise your hand. No, don’t raise your hand. I’m just kidding. Lindsay said, “You’re having the next baby.” I said, “I’ve got news for you, I’m not either.”
LR: I’ve had a bad case of the yuckies, but it’s going to get better. It will get better.
RR: She’s been eating Saltine crackers. Wayman, did you know my wife’s pregnant again? Now you know. Now you know. Here is a testimony (O.K.) from San Antonio, Texas. “I’ve had pain in my neck and in my back, but as I watched your program when you prayed the prayer of faith, I received a healing. I’ve had pain for several days and then all of a sudden it left when you prayed.” And here’s another testimony from, let’s see, this is from Georgia. “I had a problem with my ear, an ear infection. My left ear was completely closed up, but when you prayed on the program the other day all of the hearing perfectly normal.” (Applause) Praise God for that. Do you want to share one, Lindsay.
LR: I have a precious letter from a lady that, I tell you, she needed a miracle and the Lord provided one. She said, “I want to tell you about the miracle Jesus has worked in my life through your ministry. I had a severe case of arthritis in both of my hands for over three years. Every doctor I went to did their best, but nothing helped. Well, the pain remained and it got so bad that I had to sit for hours and I’d even sit down and cry. Writing became impossible and I finally accepted the fact that I would never get any better.” Boy, Dr. Jesus doesn’t accept that, does He? He’s got a miracle. (Applause) “One morning I was sitting in my living room and your program came on. I felt as if God was speaking to me when you said, ‘Friend, God wants you healed.’” That’s just how God feels, isn’t it? “You said we were children of God and the devil had to take his hands off God’s property. I began to weep with joy and I decided right then to claim my healing.” Now that’s what we need to do, decide to claim our healing. And she said, “At that very moment, Richard had a word of knowledge that someone was being healed from arthritis. I was delivered instantly on the spot. God healed my hands. There is no more arthritis.” And she said, “I know God can always do the impossible.” (Applause) Hallelujah, that’s exciting. You know, we’ve got to believe that God will heal us and that the impossible is possible with God.

RR: Right. No matter what it looks like, God can turn the situation around for you. Yes, I’m glad you tuned in this program today. My very special guest is a young man I’m very proud of, right here from our own city and state of Oklahoma. He graduated from Washington High School. He was very highly sought after as an athlete, with tremendous basketball ability. And everyone in the country tried to recruit Wayman Tisdale. The University of Oklahoma wound up–I’m going to talk to Wayman about how come we didn’t get him at ORU. We’ll put him on the spot today. But he wound up at Oklahoma University where he became an All-American. Now he’s a star in the NBA with the Indiana Pacers. Let’s give Wayman Tisdale a good handclap. Wayman, God bless you and welcome. (Applause) He’s going to share his witness for Jesus Christ with you today. Wayman and I have a lot in common. We’re both preacher’s kids, and you’re going to get to hear his story today and what’s going on in his life. And I want you to believe with all your heart as you watch this program today that just like this song says–”Miracles Still Happen.” (Applause)
RR: Singing “Miracles Still Happen” (Applause) Now stay tuned for this message coming up just for you.
DR. PAUL BRYNTESON: One, two, three, four, five, six. That means my resting heart rate there as I’m standing talking to you is 60. Have you ever counted your resting heart rate? Well, here’s one way you can do it. You can take your right arm, hold it out in front of you. Take your left hand, put it underneath your right arm and just gently put your fingers down on the thumb side of your wrist. Now let me give you a six-second count. Do you find your pulse there? Feel a little bit for it. Let me give you a six-second count. O.K., you have it? Ready? Begin. Stop. How many did you count in six seconds? Did you count five? Then add a zero. That means your heart was beating 50 times a minute. Did you count seven? Then add a zero and your heart was beating seventy times per minute. Or did you count nine? That means your heart was beating 90 times a minute. Now the importance of that is this, if your heart is normal and healthy, then the slower the beat the stronger the heart, which means it’s better to have a heart that beats 50 and 60 times per minute than it is for your heart to beat 70 and 80 times per minute. Let me give you an example. When we were first married 23 years ago, my wife had never exercised. She was quite typically unfit, like most Americans are. Well, at that point her resting heart rate was 80 beats a minute, 80. Now if you calculate that out, every day her heart beat 115,200 times. Have you ever thought about how many times per day your heart beats? 115,200 times. Then my wife started something. She started an aerobic fitness program, and she followed that for four or five years, and of course has been following it for all those years since then. But five or six years after she started her fitness program, now do you know what her resting heart rate was? 55. Her heart rate at rest dropped from 80 to 55. Now every day her heart beats 79,200 times. That’s a savings of 36,000 beats per day. What a savings. Her heart is so much stronger now, it can beat less and accomplish the same amount of work. Do you know in one year that that’s a savings of 13 million heart beats, 13 million in just one year. It pays to follow an aerobic exercise program to lower your resting heart rate. Now two of the principles that you should follow when you do an aerobic exercise program are, number one, the exercise should be continuous; that is, an exercise should be one that starts out and then continues, a exercise that starts and stops and starts and stops is not a good exercise for aerobics to lower your resting heart rate. Therefore, an exercise such as walking or jogging or cycling, whether it be a stationary cycle or outside, swimming, are all very good aerobics exercise programs. The other point is frequency. The program needs to be at least four to five days a week to develop, at least three days a week to maintain. I encourage you, start an exercise program so it can lower your resting heart rate. This is Dr. Paul Brynteson, wishing you abundant health. (Applause)

DB: All right, #22.
RR: #22. I’ll be looking for you when you’re covering those guys like Willie Gault and others. Willie was a guest on our program. Yeah, we had a wonderful time with him. Praise God. Who knows, maybe you’ll be in the Super Bowl against Chicago Bears. You just never know.
DB: I’ll be ready. (Applause)
RR: Praise the Lord. Lindsay, do you have a word before we close?
LR: I’m just proud that our athletes are standing up. In this country, in a free country like the United States of America, that our athletes can not only play to their best ability, but proclaim that Jesus Christ is Lord of their life
RR: Remember, if you’d like to have–
LR: I’m proud of that.
RR: –if you’d like to have the cassette tapes from the Ministers Conference from last month, you can still receive them. Sow a seed of $60 into this healing ministry and you can get all 12 of them, actually 13. It’s a baker’s dozen with the womens tape. And we’ll send them to you. Write me or call the Abundant Life Prayer Group. Also, the video cassettes are available. Now till we see you again, take these words with you all day long, no matter what it looks like, God can turn it around for you.
ANNOUNCER: Richard invites you to get involved in this ministry with both your prayers and financial support. Send your Seed-Faith gift to Richard Roberts, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Or call 1-918-495-7777. And when you write or call, be sure to ask for your copy of Richard’s book, HE’S THE GOD OF A SECOND CHANCE, a stirring autobiography about how God not only turned it around in Richard’s life, but how He can do the same for you. I’m Bill Nordstrom, inviting you to join us tomorrow for another exciting program. And remember, God can turn it around in your life.
ORUS: Singing “Turn It Around” APPLAUSE
RR: Young person, the Spirit of God which is rising up in you is stronger than any attachment to drugs or alcohol or anything that’s unlike God. You have the conviction to say no. (Yes, you do.) Do it. Choose to refuse it. You can live without it. You can live healthier. You can avoid all that abuse in your life, and your life can count for something. For you are special to God. You who have a dream of going into athletics, especially professional athletics, let the light of Jesus Christ shine through your life. If you want to make a mark on history, if you want to make a mark on the sport that you believe God has give you ability in, then do what Dave has done, make a commitment of your life to Jesus Christ. Now Dave did not receive Christ until he was already in professional athletics. But you can receive Jesus right now if you’ll let me pray with you. Everybody join with me in this prayer and as you watch, and this is for you parents too, I want to lead you to Christ. And if you’ll let me pray I believe my prayers can help you. Will you pray this prayer out loud after me and everybody here, will you pray? O Lord, be merciful to me a sinner. I’m a sincere, I’m a sinner, Lord, and I’m sincerely sorry. I repent of my sins. I confess them to You. I know I’ve been wrong and I ask You to forgive me. And in the name of God, I receive His only Son Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I confess His name with my lips. I believe in my heart that God raised Him from the dead. And I take Him as Savior. My sins are now forgiven. I receive Christ. My life is being changed. If you meant what you said, Jesus is entering your heart right now and you’ll never be the same again. I have a book–here’s a copy of it–called NOW YOU HAVE ACCEPTED CHRIST, WHAT NEXT? If you just prayed that prayer with me, let me send you this book, NOW YOU HAVE ACCEPTED CHRIST, WHAT NEXT? This little book will help you know what to do now that you’ve received Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. I’ll talk to you about going back to church. “Forsake not the assembling of yourselves together,” that’s what the Bible says. I’ll talk to you about praying, how to pray, how to talk to God, how to study and meditate on God’s Word, what the Bible can do in your life. The Bible says, “The Word of God is alive and full of power.” And when you get that Word in you, you become alive and full of power. And you who are desiring to be athletes, as you get God’s Word in you, I believe that your athletic ability is going to increase in a way like you’ve never dreamed of before. And the world will know about it. I praise God for that. I pray for your healing today. (Applause) I pray for you to be healed, from the crown of your head to the soles of your feet. In the mighty name of Jesus, amen and amen. Praise the Lord. (Singing “Jesus Heals Them All”) (Applause) Praise the Lord. Dave, thank you for taking time out of your schedule. I know a new season is coming up soon. I want to pray–in fact, I’d just like to pray for you right now. Everybody stretch your hands out toward Dave. Dave, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, we touch you with our hands and with our faith. We stretch out hands out toward you and we pray for your witness to increase, even far beyond your own dreams. For the ministry, for I believe God has placed you in a ministry. He’s given you great athleticability and as you play football for Seattle this season in the NFL, I pray for God to unusually anoint you, that through your ability in athletics you will continue to win people to Jesus Christ. I pray it, I believe it, and I expect it to come to pass in your life. God bless your dear wife Rhonda. Rhonda, if you’re watching this program, God bless you. God continue to anoint you and be a support to Dave, in Jesus’ name. Let everybody say amen. I think we ought to give the Lord a great handclap. (Applause) Dave, thank you for being our guest today. Praise God for it. I’ll be looking for you again on TV again this season.

ORUS: Singing “He’ll Do It Again.” (Applause)
RR: You may not know how, you may not know when, but He’ll do it again. Have you got that young person in front of the television set? We’re going to pray right now, Lindsay and I, Dave. We’re going to join hands, we’re going to pray together. We’re going to agree for a miracle. And especially, Dave, I want you to pray for that young person. Let’s join, everybody join hands together. And, Dave, as the Lord leads you, just open your heart and pray for them.
DB: Dear Heavenly Father, I just thank You for this privilege and opportunity to call upon You. Dear God, I just pray especially for the young men and women who are in our audience, dear God, the TV sets, wherever they are. Lord, I just pray and thank You for the bridges You’ve built between man and You, and that’s in Your Son Jesus CHrist. Father, I just pray that those men and women that are on the fence, dear God, that they’d come and give their lives to You, that those on the other side of the fence that are using drugs and alcohol and having premarital sex, dear God, that You convict them in their heart. For You said, “It’s not by might nor by power but by my Spirit, saith the Lord.” I just pray by your Spirit that You’d move on those young men and women. And, Lord, we just thank You for what You’ve already done and praise You for what You’re doing right now. In Jesus’ name I thank You and pray, amen.
RR: Lindsay.
LR: Father, I pray right now that You would give the young men and young women the courage to say no when they know in their heart they need to say no and not to worry about peer pressure, not to worry about what people are going to think or what they’re going to say or how they’re going to get laughed at. But, Lord, give them a holy boldness to stand up and proclaim Jesus as Lord of all and that I don’t have to do those things because God is my God and He’s a good God. And God will lift me higher than my peers. And God will sustain me through these persecutions and God will keep me strong and bold and correct before the Lord’s eyes. Lord, I pray that You would give them the boldness to listen to their parents and not be ashamed to listen to their parents and not be ashamed to do what they feel is right in the bottom of their heart by their spirit. And in Jesus’ name, I pray that they will witness to others and have the courage to witness to their friends and stand up and proclaim that Jesus is Lord of all. Amen.

RR: Now someone would say, but now it helps me to be a better athlete if I have a little use of that.
DB: O.K., but what I would say to them is an example. You know, right now the last few months we’ve heard of how these cases of how Tylenol, these capsules have been laced with cyanide and people have actually died right now from it. What you’re saying when you say that is, you’re calling what is evil good because God says, woe is to him who calls evil good–that’s Isaiah 5–and good evil. And you’re not taking a drug that’s going to kill you right now, but slowly and surely it will turn you away from the Lord and it will kill you. If you want life, life is only found in Jesus Christ. But Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me.” (Applause)
RR: Have you had any personal experience dealing with other NFL players that have been on drugs? I’m not talking about names or anything, I’m just saying, have you had any experience where you’ve been able to be a help to someone like that or is there any example that comes to your mind? I want to drive this point home because there is a tremendous scare in America, especially among parents. And it’s coming, it seems to be coming in droves to young people who have a desire to get into professional athletics.
DB: Well, I definitely had an effect because I’ve been in prayer in it in regard to that. And there’s some that I’ve talked with personally in regard to that. But that’s about all I can say right
RR: I understand. I can appreciate that. In a few moments we’re going to pray and I particularly want you especially as a parent, if there’s a member of your family, a son or a daughter, who is athletically inclined and maybe they’re out somewhere in another room or maybe they’re out in the street or out in the yard or somewhere around, go get them. Because in a few minutes I’m going to ask Dave as a professional athlete to lead them in prayer. In a few minutes we’ll be doing that, so just take a moment now and find that young person and get them in front of the television set. In a few minutes I’m going to ask Dave if he’ll pray and Lindsay and I will join, join in. But I think this is a wonderful opportunity for a young man who has made something of his life through professional athletics, and of course more than that, he’s making something of his life through his Savior Jesus Christ. The ORU Singers are going to bless us with a song while you’re getting that young person ready for this prayer. They’re going to sing a wonderful song titled, “He’ll Do It Again.” Give them a good handclap as they sing “He’ll Do It Again.”

There’s a point in our lives where we have to decide if the world system is what we’re going to live on or if God’s system is what we’re going to live on. When the man of God spoke, that woman had a decision to eat that last meal, to take her very last and give it to herself and for her son and die. Or she could get out of the world system and trust totally by faith because and get into God’s system.
what he had was nothing. He wasn’t giving her anything. He was giving the widow a word of knowledge from God. But a word of knowledge from God had in her mind no substance to it. She had the meal in front of her, but how could she feed her family and sustain her life with just words from God? But God said, “No, you trust me and I’ll turn it around.”
Well, you know what, you know what really he was saying? He was saying to her, “You can prove God.” (Exactly) Everybody say prove God. Say it out loud. Say, prove God. What’s proving God? It’s taking God at His word. God said to the little woman through the prophet, “You do this and I’ll do this.” Now this is the way God operates with you and me. “If you’ll do your part,” God is saying, “then I will do my part. If you will sow the seed by giving My prophet Elijah the first portion of your last supper, then I will multiply it back to you and the meal barrel will not diminish and the cruse of oil shall not fail.” And so the little widow did what the prophet Elijah said.
She forgot about what anybody might say. She even forgot about what her son might have said. She did what God through the prophet told her to do. And when she did, something happened, something miraculous. And, friend, every time you prove God, you will find something miraculous will happen in your life.
